This reminds me of a local story, circa 1950’s-1960’s and the first time I’d heard the term “Philadelphia Lawyer”. A man appeared for trial at the local courthouse. I don’t recall the charge. When called upon, he walked in with 3 large books under his arm, then sat at the defense table informing the judge he’d be representing himself. While the crown prosecutor was presenting his case the defendant quickly flipped through his ‘learned material’. The defendant then rose and presented his version of the facts. The judge ruled in favor of the defendant. Outside the courthouse this man was asked what law books he’d consulted. He presented said law books. 2 were department store catalogs and the other was a phone book. Unfortunately, today one needs a ‘Philadelphia Lawyer’ to navigate the unnecessarily complicated judicial system. $$$

Actually, one simply needs to understand the difference between public and private.
