Hurracaine architecture

In the Caribbean the Indians knew all about hurricanes. In fact, the word hurricane comes form the Taino word Huracan, which means “God Winds.” The Spanish conquistadors noticed that during hurricanes these homes were not affected. That’s kind of amazing considering they were constructed out of wood and straw. The round shape and the reinforcements on the inside made them resistant to storms.

So folks… if you live in hurricane prone areas, curvy construction might be the way of the future, no more rectilinear boxy stuff. I see some of the construction in Florida and is a disaster in the making.

The pictures are from where I live in Puerto Rico. I know they look odd, but they are better than the boxy construction.
