JP Watson has a knack for pointing out the absurdity and the attempted inversion our “reality”. Seems Nazi ways of discriminating against and punishing Jews in Germany is being applied to dissidents. Perhaps ghettos for dissidents is the goal?

It’s moving towards that in Canada with the hate and censorship legislation and people being fined for saying anything that disagrees with the regime (which is how “hate” is being interpreted by the legal system and politicians). This week, two Canadians talked about a new provincial legislation that came into effect in the province of British Columbia, making it illegal for any health professional to say anything that contradicts policies rolled out by the regime. If they do, then they can be fined ($500,000 = loss of home) or face prison for 2 years. Our dentist and family doctor both left their practices recently…

The situation brings to mind, very soberingly, the situation in East Germany after WWII that was chronicled by Anna Funder, in her book “Stasiland”, in which she interviewed both residents who lived under that kind of regime as well as the Stasi, themselves, who managed the regime. Very sobering book.

… an excellent read! I started a few years ago collecting titles written by those who resisted various and sundry regimes. Not only are they of interest historically they provide valuable information about how the various oppressions functioned and ways of coping and countering.

One might start in this literature with Victor Serge’s What Every Radical Should Know About State Suppression.
