… I’m not. (In 2022 - 46,000 … then in 2024 - 37,000 and these were just those that were “counted” so double those numbers) The same headline could be written about any (((WesTern European))) nation. So just now they are realizing they have “lost control”? Pleeeaaasseee … This is NOT NEWS and hasn’t been for quite some time. Read the first line from the piece below …
“In 2024, around 37,000 people were detected crossing the Channel in small boats. That was a quarter more than the year before and the second-highest annual figure. In 2022, about 46,000 people crossed the Channel without authorisation.”

Add to that the number of legal immigrants who don’t come over in boats . . . I’ve heard it said “legal immigration” hovers around 1 million a year. I think that includes students, some of whom may eventually leave, but I can’t tell if it includes boat folks who eventually become legal. (The way they break down the stats doesn’t make it easy to parse – surprise!). Anyway, the official guesses on “long-term immigration,” defined as people entering the UK for a period of at least 12 months:
The provisional estimate for total long-term immigration for YE [year ending] December 2024 is 948,000, a decrease of almost a third from the revised YE December 2023 estimate of 1,326,000 and the first time it has been below 1 million since YE March 2022. Then there’s this:

Borders are lost in Ireland but also EU wide as well unfortunately.
Ireland is now somewhere north of 20% of the total population being immigrant/asylum seeking within the last 5 years. An exponential rate of rise since late 2021 when an Green Ex-Minister for Integration sent tweets out in 8 different languages to countries Africa, Asia and South America inviting with large grants, and social welfare goodies. Also when Ireland had the opportunity to exercise the opt out clause it had agreed under the Lisbon Treaty, unlike Denmark, the current government refused to do so, to widespread popular disagreement. There should have been a referendum. But that seems to be the modus operandi in the West now. Political elites/ Ministers (or what are now colloquially called the “local branch managers”) ignoring if not actual attacking their respective populations with lawfare.
