Ah, one of my favorite authors as a young man. His content was rich even with an economy of words…
In correspondence with Lovecraft, who he greatly admired, Howard admitted that he felt sometimes as though he was compulsed to write these stories…explaining that it was as if someone unseen stood behind him whispering in his ear… as if the tales MUST be told.
Howard was a voracious reader himself and the libraries were not restrictive as they are now.
