Incandecent bulbs are BACK in the United States

Just noticed this today and, for me at least, it’s good news.

We try not use LED in our house for many reasons. From a practical standpoint, standard bulbs are still cheaper than the LED alternatives especially when it comes to having to retrofit older cars. Additionally, there’s quite a bit of evidence that these guys create health hazards ranging from the topics covered in the video above and all the way to remote “hackers” modulating and pulsing at rates people can’t easily detect for a variety of undesirable outcomes.

I’m sure a great many of you are more informed on the subject and I’d love any information and advice on the topic you may provide. I’m glad to have a chance to stock up on my supply again…had been relying on garage sales, etc since they were forced to stop selling them.

Anecdotally, saw a video a few months back of a tech testing an old “Kelvinator” fridge from
the 50’s. He had the front door off and let it run for a month to gauge the power usage. Not only
did the compressor survive but the total power usage (again, WITHOUT a front door) was around $3.40 per month. All these things they try to sell you for efficiency sake are quite often
going in the opposite direction. Especially when considering cradle to grave costs…
Example: Wind generators in Cali and West Texas.

I have some incandescent bulbs arriving Monday, was surprised to even find them on Amazon. Hope they arrive unbroken.
Years ago I purchased all I could find from the only place left that had them, local Dollar General stores.

THANK YOU for letting me know. I still have some bulbs that my husband purchased when they said they were going to become extinct. If you raise birds, like me, the incandescent heat is just enough with one bulb (wattage depends on the size of the “incubator for chicks”) is enough to easily raise newly hatched poultry that are very fragile in the first two weeks. Given that our local Tractor Supply will not have chicks thanks to the fraud in the poultry industry, this is important to us.

There ia good news, however. Arrests are starting for these criminals.

This may be a stupid question…why is there plenty of chicken breasts, thighs and whole chickens still available at the grocery store at a reasonable price? The price of chicken didn’t shoot up like eggs at least around here (SW PA).

Yeah, I’ve been buying chicken thighs almost weekly for the last several years. The last increase was from $1.89 to $1.99 /lb about a year ago. Now the price of eggs, that’s a whole different ball of wax.

There may be plenty of meats to choose from in the future! :

And not necessarily lab grown at all.

That is so gross @WuWu

My best friend just over to visit family, lives on Kauai, says the island is completely out of eggs in the stores. Wondering if govt going for privately owned chickens next.

Wait, this was about bulbs… Oh well.

Lightbulbs were originally manufactured with Tungsten filaments, which moght last foreverrr . Wolfram was of course chosen as the substitute.

Wonder what all the “new”/old bulbs are made of? GMO??

You didn’t have to do that @WuWu . I just saw the Mountain Dew commercial with Seal so I’m pretty much grossed out for the evening😉
