"Inclusion Canada, formerly known as the Canadian Association for Community Living, is an organization that advocates for adults with disabilities and their families"

To see an organization like the Canadian Association for Community Living (CACL) endorsing this chills me to the bone. I was unaware of this name change. My youngest brother was born with both mental and physical disabilities. He’s been participating in the local CACL workshop for over 3 decades now. The ‘workshop’ provides several services to the local community including a bakery, print shop/ shredding service, stripping and refinishing wooden furniture, a tea room, and a catering service. Most of these folks work at part time jobs throughout the business community via placements by workshop staff. The ‘good’ the workshop has done over the years is phenomenal.

My final comment is to tell you that the original name of the organization that shouldered the task of training these people for some sort of productive future in the workforce was the CAMR. The Canadian Association for the Mentally Retarded.
