Can you judge a civilization on how they treat their very old and their very young?
Do they kill them w/injections; while saying its for their own good?

This may be a civilization, but it’s less and less civilized by the day.
I think that, similar to something Dr. Farrell has mentioned, the universe has a failsafe mechanism built into it. You can only pull a rubber band so tight before it snaps back… I hope the current period of madness turns out to be a brief one!

— I tried to reply to neru with a smile only to have a prompt appear stating that my reply must be at least 20 characters. Why must a post be at least 20 characters? I guess the software “needs” … (software can’t really need) … Does it “need” at least 20 characters in order for the info harvesting software to kick in? Has it been determined that “meaningful information” (translate salable data for GDS) can only be obtained in strings of 20 characters or more?
I am reminded of a story about The Amazing Randi’s (I know, but still, like in every bad book or film there is usually one good idea) encounter with a pair of famous Russian (I believe they were Russian, I’m going from memory here) palm reading sisters. Randi walks in, sits down, and offers his palm. They immediately begin to ask him questions through the interpreter. He doesn’t say a word. The chatter both between themselves and the interpreter increases. Finally, Randi asks the interpreter what all the chatter is about. The Interpreter tells Randi that they wish he would say something. Aaaaahhhh, yes … now I get it.

Just finished reading/Genesis Sequence by Stan C Smith[2021]
A robot travels back 47,675 years ago and teams up w/a Neanderthal woman.
The robot needs data, and is continuously requiring it like oxygen. In the novel, he needs to have the woman keep speaking so he can decipher what she is saying.
Yesterday I had to go to the VA. Simple visit in & out.
No more! I had to go through all different kinds of hoops! For what?

[P.S. the book isn’t very good at all. I would not recommend it.]

Unfortunately, the universe seems to be constructed in such a way that sometimes the “fail” has to be pretty grandiose and longstanding before the “safe” kicks in…

You do in this country, too, if your last name is Cheney. Ok. Another “we can’t punish that Bush crowd enough” statement. Never enough.
The parents who are dragging their children into this scenario are the ones at fault- no innocence there. They are generally a generation of people who think murdering children in the womb is ok- so why not ages 5-11? Seriously. It makes me sick to my foundation but these Godless people do not seem to be capable of saving as no sensibility is available to them.

Indeed Justa. It is not easy to admit pure evil is on the loose on this planet. It might not be my place to judge but it sure is time and within my perogative to take responsability for myself, loved ones and direct surroundings. This responsability is grounded on a Chistian belief system and I care not if it is eroded and or eroding and thus dwindling in numbers.
The asking price for “to go along to get along” is besides unethical very inhuman and I will not be a part of it regardless how many inhabitants (I refuse to call them humans) of earth choose and demand it.
