Irish national fuel protests continue. Blockading protests have ended, mobile, pop up protests, slow moving transporters/trucks protest, continue in a new phase the protest

The narrative seems to have shifted and widened to include “government and its over reach” especially in breaking up the large scale in such aggressive manner, large forces of mounted police, public order enforcement, riot squads and police using pepper spray - supposedly banned for use in Ireland.

The additional €500+million euro relief package, additional to and on top of a previous €200million euro relief package seems to have been offered too late and is apparently being taken as a too little too late measure designed to split protest continuents apart. Also it is no longer appears to be material to the issue of the government competence itself.
Pardon any expletives.

But the most telling incident post the weekend, is that previously, while the Gardaí police (a mainly unarmed community-based force) are now being Boycotted by the public following their behaviours mentioned above, with all of the historical symbolism and meaning contained in that term, which originated in dealing with agents of landlords during the great famine times (Mid 1800s).

This incident below, never happens, in fact it would be expected to be at the extreme opposite of the continuum of their normal support.

The following can be found now on social media. There are two votes of “no confidence in the government” tabled for the coming week Dáil (parliament) sitting after the Easter break.

The protest is growing in Northern Ireland and spreading to England too.

National protest is ongoing today in the Republic of Ireland even in small towns such Lifford below

The “WEF style stakeholders” now so called by the protesters, Irish Road Haulier Association and Irish Farmer Associations etc, are being bypassed…

… No, this is NOT an act of national sabotage" as it is now trying to be framed.

“Denying people access to fuel and clean water is an unacceptable interference in the most basic of human rights,” - Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan.

Denying people access to freedom is an unacceptable interference in the most basic of human rights. … is what he should have said …

The “Justice Minister” doesn’t appear to have the knowledge to administer such.

Total Irish military Irish Defence Forces have approximately 7,767 active personnel and roughly 1,811 reserve personnel. Total population of Ireland 5.4 million. The odds look good.

A no confidence Vote in Government??? Sign me up!!!

That’s the only thing that saves our republic. But probably 10 American’s watching to know that’s an option…

Right now, the lesser of two evils vote is what is being pushed upon us.

Here are the confirmed facts as of April 13, 2026:

  • Sinn Féin (the main opposition party) is tabling a motion of no confidence in the government tomorrow, Tuesday, April 14.
  • It has support from other opposition parties including Labour, the Social Democrats, People Before Profit, Aontú, and Independent Ireland.
  • The protests (now in their ~7th day) involve farmers and hauliers blocking roads and fuel depots over soaring diesel/petrol prices, which they say are crippling businesses. The government has responded with some tax-cut/fuel-relief measures, but critics say it’s not enough and accuse them of poor engagement.

theguardian.com

Probably not. The current coalition (Fianna Fáil + Fine Gael) still holds a working majority in the Dáil and is expected to defeat the motion. However:

  • Several independent TDs who support the coalition are seen as a “big test” — if enough defect, it could get close.
  • News coverage describes the vote as more symbolic/political pressure than a guaranteed government-killer right now.

Some signs that the Eurogendfor (- https://eurogendfor.org/ EU wide police rapid armed response force to emergency situations in the EU) were used in action against protesters in tyhe blockades. If you hadn’t been aware of such a force you are in good company, I very much doubt anyone in Ireland has, But you may have seen how riot or public order police units usually work, they scream and tell you move as they push and/or batter you. Interestingly, the battering and aggression occurred but apparently reported without a single word being spoken let alone shouted by units of the elements of police in Gardai uniforms. Who knows for sure but it is weird. https://x.com/MEGAEIRE/status/2043790278398448066?s=20

According to Serge there are ALWAYS various levels of Secret Police. Sometimes the “Secret Police” are found out when they “accidentally” back into a funeral procession. Any 19 March armbands floating about?

… “The European Gendarmerie Force is a multinational police force with military status to provide police capabilities in crisis management operations.” So they are essentially military not police. Be sure to pick out the ones without the correct “accents”.

Private armies for me but not for thee. I see. I hope the networks are still in place. Is NORAID or any similar group(s) still functioning?
