Is a medical product behind New Brunswick's medical mystery? This was investigated many years ago and is still before the courts

"In March 2002, The Fifth Estate’s investigation showed how a surgical patch taken from the brain tissue of cadavers could lead to a brain wasting illness called Creutzfeld-Jakob disease.

Co-host Hana Gartner further uncovered how the patch, called Lyodura, was not disinfected properly, and some of the tissue was stolen from corpses on an illegal medical black market. A vastly ineffective product recall also kept the product on hospital shelves after the connection was made to the brain wasting disease."
