Interesting observations. Sometimes the game is hard to detect. To me, there seems to be a dichotomy between the idea of deploying AI into retail-level devices and those gigantic data centers. If we were to catalog all the lines of code that run on our desktop and handheld computers it would boggle the mind today. One must assume AI capability is going to build on present capability not abandon it. So the portable computing system needed to fuel AI deployment to the field will either require a new class of portable supercomputer or it will remain in the data center and will rely on very fast communication to do all those AI-ish things.
Perhaps AI is that ‘bridge too far’ as infrastructure to bathe the populated areas in high speed service will continue to be very expensive to build out and maintain. And i think the rate of speed increase in chips has been slowing down (could be wrong).
So, AI deployment to the genpop seems only plausible if the general population is all herded into a central high density city of some sort. OH! I think I read something about that

No doubt AI is loaded for bear in stacked operations.
Or, it is an anaconda algorithmic governance "beast mark"ing/digitizing power; away from the global masses, to the miniscule few.
Indeed, some think; to an inter-dimensionally, intergalactic evil.
It is also a convenient Magician White Rabbit.
Able to conjure up all sorts of illusionary trick, upon the public.
An all purpose fall guy.
An all purpose copy; even a human doppelganger.
An all purpose tool of thieves; including mass denial of service attacks; crypto-currencies; etc., etc.
Even an all purpose derivative Pac-Man! E-eating-commerce-younameit.
There are many more, BUT, you get the concept.

On another level, global AI/Derivative interplay, seems like it is becoming one giant Hegelian, problem-reaction -solution cycle strategy with a splash of musical chairs and a sprinkling of Go in the mix.

Sometimes I wonder if the west is the designated area in the development of a borg hive mind type of civilazation experimentation. At least europe seem to be run by programmed atomatons and the experiment isn’t going so well and neither are the “programmed” technocrats doing well. In the end I don’t think transhumanism is an easy thing to accomplish. Merging man and machine might not be possible and we are finding out the hard way! Somebody somewhere drank too much coolaid of cruzing mega cubes in space thru the telly!

AI is going to excel at creating a new fantastic layer of artificial reality…in the same way that television began along that path. People will become fascinated (and influenced) by the new form of entertainment. A revolution in fantasy. The most successful fields to implement AI will be the ones where the most profit is to be made. Interactive customized Disneyland displayed via hologram.
Yes, it (and cryptocurrency) will give a new level of control. There’s money to be made there (sales tax). If Income Tax gets eliminated, the parasitic (and some useful infrastructure) will need a way to be funded.
