Reminds me of a book I’m reading, “Big Money” published in 2014 about the billionaires overt-taking on of the political parties with the SuperPACs.
…of the seven words that one (previously) could not say on television, were we not in the company of the fairer sex then I might be prone to employ at least five of said words describing most of this clubs members and activities…
Where’s that qualified immunity when we need it?
I sure hope for the sake of the members that their accountants figure our how to write off the membership fees so we can all collectively help pay for them.
Sorry, sarcasm is all I have.
Both sides (progressives and less progressives parties) use the same model to consolidate the ultra donor list membership monies and tactics. There is even a tiered membership list, Governing Membership for the big bucks billionaire donors and General Membership for millionaire “paupers”. The main draw for both seems to be egos and social standing in their social groups. There’s an inner circle that dominates based on donation amount and access to power brokers.
When there’s a huge stash of cash like this available seems everyone and everything is for sale and bringing agendas to fruition and manifesting ideas is no problem.
I still remember the quixotic guy, Richard Grossman, who tried to fight corporate personhood. And people like Russ Feingold. But they were completely outnumbered and didn’t have support outside their own political circles.
Big money can put the brakes on most anything that gets in their way as we’ve come to realize.
