Has anyone ever commented on the similarities of your profile picture to Robert Duvall?
No. My picture is actually of Santiago Ramón y Cajal. He won The Nobel Prize in Physiology / Medicine in 1906. His work included proving that each nerve cell is an independent entity and that nerve synapses transfer (communicate via) nerve impulses from one cell to another. His work on nerve cell communication was inspiration to C.S. Peirce for various and sundry. He has my admiration not only for his scientific work but for other reasons as well. He was a very fascinating man and scientist.
And believe it or not in his spare time he wrote … wait for it … science fiction …
