Little known fact!

The First American civil war, the Battle of Bull Run also known as the Battle of First Manassas was called “The Picnic Battle” because many wealthy elites and Washington’s civilians, including congressmen and their families went on picnics on the sidelines and watched the battle.

Too bad some of them weren’t still hanging out at battlefields watching their cannon fodder…

The picnics took place at numerous battle sites throughout early days of Civil War.
You being Canadian, I don’t know if you know there were two battles at Bull Run. Maybe not important to you but just for your reference.
