Lockheed Compact Fusion Reactor Patent .... but was there another tech and working prototype earlier than this?

What is compact fusion?

But what is this propulsion? Lockheed Drone tech from 1990s -

Looks a little like this earlier tech consisting of “a plasma cell and superconducting magnetic fields applied to the plasma, which enables a very high process efficiency”

So could this latter propulsion then have been a tech around in the 1960’s? Say in 1969 even?

… any mention of Thorium being involved?

… I wonder if the recently killed physicist Nuno F. Gomes Loureiro was related to or involved in any of this work.

Didn’t notice that Thorium was being utilised, but it would make sense for smaller scale applications.
