Lovely piece on the traditional sailing boats of the Claddagh Galway....aka the Galway Hookers...no not that sort!

These boats stole my heart when I was in my teens, and did lots of pencil and watercolour sketches of them back in the day, which of course I never kept as a youngfella does. Sailing them was rough on your hands as all sheets and halyards were made from hemp. At the time there were no engines so maneuvering was only under sail. The roastings on missing the mooring buoy…meant you learned quickly. :joy:
