I found this article while responding to the Cleveland one @ColonelZ posted a short time ago.
“Officials say the fire was found burning inside a large, sealed oven containing between four and twelve billets of magnesium.”
I dunno, don’t think an oven is needed to store magnesium… but it certainly is important in the manufacture of it. Once again, the metal fab nature of the company seems down-played, at least in the headlines and opening statements.
So far as I can tell, Terves Inc, and Magnesium USA are the same company; both seem to share the Rockwell Drive address. Terves Inc. website shows some impressive capabilities but makes no mention of “Magnesium USA” nor a fire.
I’ve working in manufacturing most of my life; fires do happen on occasion, but like food plant fires though, there seems to be a pattern developing. Had the facility alarm not activated, that fire could have advanced and become quite serious. Magnesium and water do not mix well.
