… probably just the tip of the iceberg. How about legislation that permits victims of illegal CDL driver “accidents” to go after the state that issued the CDL? States have very deep pockets. I would think that there are a few signatures required on the paperwork along the way to obtaining the CDL. The victims should also be able to legally go after the individuals whose signatures are on the paperwork. One of the comments to a similar article in ZH suggested that when these drivers are caught that the truck and contents be immediately seized and subsequently auctioned.

making a claim against public figure’s accountability bonds was a topic a couple of years back as a means of holding officials (the governments they work for) accountable. Maybe that would work here.
… no NOT bonds … personal liability … their house, their car, their savings or jail time. Otherwise this stupidity will continue. Same with judges … if a judge lets a multiple time loser (legal or illegal) back on the street snd they commit a crime the judge should be held personally responsible. It is far past time to start erring on the side of caution.

Bingo on personal liability. It’s the only thing with teeth. Who exactly should be liable for what is the only question. While you’re at it, throw in personal liability for board members of corporations that violate the law. (Hey, we can dream.)

An Indiana man accused of stabbing a 69-year-old at a gas station has ignited outrage after records revealed a staggering criminal history – nearly 100 prior arrests – with little to show in the way of punishment.
Courtney Boose, 41, was arrested after the alleged gas-station stabbing, according to the Lawrence Police Department and Fox 59, which reported that Boose has been arrested 99 times over the years on charges ranging from theft and trespassing to battery.
Despite that record, court documents reviewed by Fox News Digital show he’s never served a day in state prison.
Boose’s long paper trail through Marion County courts paints a picture of a man repeatedly cycling through the system.
Public filings list dozens of convictions and dismissals spanning more than two decades, mostly low-level felonies and misdemeanors such as theft, criminal trespass, and panhandling. Even when convicted, Boose typically received short county-jail terms or time served.
