Many of the posters here are looking for, or expecting instant answers, instant responses, instant results for a problem that has been unfolding for many years. Therefore, it is easy to have no true idea of the depth and breadth of how to conduct an operation to reverse things that have an enormous scale, and that have been ongoing for a long, long time.

… No one is expecting “instant” anything … but if you can’t deliver, then don’t promise. There shouldn’t have been so many “day ones” thrown about so nonchalantly. Mr. Trump can now be seen to be quite the exponent of demagoguery.
But it should be painfully plain by now that there was no plan, there is no plan being formulated, and there will be no plan. While Rome burns the show goes on …

There is an increase in self-deportations.
Reports are coming in: "YUMA, Ariz.—Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls said that border crossings near his city have continued to decline since President Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border on Jan. 20. “For the last four days—very specifically in the last four days—we haven’t had any transfers from the San Diego or Tucson sector, which had been happening daily or near daily for the last several months,” Nicholls told The Epoch Times on Jan. 24. “There’s some definite changes along the flow of traffic, at least in the Yuma sector.”
Nicholls said some illegal immigrants have chosen to “self-deport” rather than be put through the federal immigration system.

… curiously I have yet to run across this “argument” in connection with the so-called “self-deportations”. So I’ll just throw it out there and see what happens …

… of course. If they are not already in the system being processed now would create a place in a database complete with picture, fingerprints, documents and so on. In addition, if they “self-deport” (we must find a different phrase) this will enable them to choose to stay close to the border and when the heat is off scurry right back in.

Perhaps, but with an increase in security on the American side of the border we get a 2nd opportunity to photograph, fingerprint and obtain their DNA if they choose to re-enter. Let the Mexicans feed and house them in the meantime. Of course nothing is foolproof, but how often will they get that 2nd or 3rd chance to cross back over?

Guess I am too old. I looked at the cartoon without even hitting the “button” and I heard the whole sequence and started laughing.
Hey. I grew up with the whole mind-warping Disney pedophilia with the Micky Mouse Club. Television was something regulated in my house but watching Disney on Saturday (or was it Sunday?) night was a big deal. In retrospect, it was probably entertainment that allowed the parents (doctors who worked 5.5, half saturdays, a week- except Dad, the radiologist who did a 5.5 and the rest “on call”) to relax without a lot of inane questions or watching children do ballerina jumps off the the living room couches since they were wanting to run around the TV room. All those special movie-level Disney cartoons were mesmorizing so most of us could probably sing through the whole schtick.

A lot of this clean-up has been happening all along - usually in a “look over here” maneuver. I am old enough now to think I can’t get fooled much, but I stumbled into a kaleidoscope and can say that I am fairly confident there is a whole level out there that has been pushing the time frame. Mandella? I think that is the name of a concept.

This address given in Sept of 1987 is a really strange read. For context we should remember that this was given within a year of the Iran-Contra Scandal disclosure. And of course there is, as usual, this … “The investigation was impeded when large volumes of documents relating to the affair were destroyed or withheld from investigators by the Reagan administration.” I also think it a wee bit of a stretch, as Reagan does in this address, to refer to Hernando de Soto as “a scholar”.
It reads, as most political speeches do, as many words saying nothing. It reads as a disjointed attempt at cover up and diversion. Read this as if you were an English teacher grading an essay. What is the theme? Are there any arguments being made? If you happen to find any arguments what is being argued either for or against? This address also reads, as do a number of Reagan’s speeches, as a sort of “preaching”. Their effects were like hearing many Sunday morning sermons that contain little or no substance, but upon leaving one says to oneself, “I don’t know what was said, but it sure made me feel better”.
I don’t think Reagan was referring to ETs … if you look at the end of the paragraph in which the line appears I think your question can be answered.
“Perhaps we need some outside, universal threat to make us recognize this common bond. I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world. And yet, I ask you, is not an alien force already among us?
