Perhaps these are old news to those of you in eastern Europe. I immediately thought of Tito Struckman when I found the photos.

“The remote and rugged region in the North Caucasus, in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria of the Russian Federation, is a place of towering mountains and untamed wilderness. However, in 2011, Russian speleologist Arthur Zhemukhov made a startling discovery on the summit of Mount Khara-Khorga. There, he found a deep, narrow, vertical shaft that seemed to be swallowed by the earth itself. It consisted of parallel stone slabs that looked perfectly geometric, as if they had been artificially created. The walls were straight and polished and extended 40 meters or 130 feet deep into the mountain before opening into a wide underground hall. The straight walls of this shaft consisted of large megalithic blocks that were fitted together at right angles with minimal gaps. There were even large stones that looked like pillars.”
Here is an amazing interactive site showing the structure as a 3d animation.
