Meet the new boss, same as the old boss ... You'll see a good example of this in the last 5 minutes of the film "The President's Analyst"

Yes, Donald Trump was allowed to be elected, but please don’t think that anything has changed or will change. If you think that things have changed or will change in the near future you may experience, as Yogi Berra once said, “… déjà vu all over again.” What do I mean? You may have encountered, as our most recent unpleasantness came to an end, a number of people who remarked how shocked they were by how much that “things had changed”. I think good argument could be made that what they were experiencing instead was not that “things had changed” but instead, under the stress of encountering unavoidable overwhelming evidence had to admit to themselves how things had always been. For whatever reason, prior to our most recent unpleasantness, they either could not see or refused to see how things actually were.

Unfortunately, I think we are about to have a similar experience with Trump’s Second Term.

Yep, like all the things going on now weren’t happening before the electronic surveillance state and the internet was in place? Intelligence gathering has been included in state craft since tribes were roaming around looking for food…only now it’s overt and covert.

Yep. What remains to be seen is what the powers-that-be are going to do (or attempt to do) in order to make sure the citizenry can never again encounter unavoidable, overwhelming evidence of grand-scale government/corporate malfeasance. Both that malfeasance and the attempt to make sure citizens can’t find out or talk about it openly are a certainty.

The potential scenarios for justifying a totalitarian crackdown on sharing information worry me a lot more than the malfeasance itself.
