ā€œWouldn’t it be nice if there were borders
Keeping people out who don’t be-long
And wouldn’t it be nice if all of Congress
Knew the diff-er-ence in right and wrongā€¦ā€

Wouldn’t it be nice?

It’ll all be over soon… Don’t worry baby.

I had almost forgotten about that…one wonders what sorts of musical parodies Limbaugh might have come up with now.

Living in CA, Im very unhappy with how the deportations are happening. They are casting too wide of a net and hurting good hard working people. They could be using resources to locate and remove immigrants actively committing crimes (drugs, assault, whatever). Get rid of those people. Get rid of people harboring those criminals. Get rid of people who don’t appreciate that they are in our country, have no interest in assimilating, and maybe even hate our country.

I know this is in response to Dems completely opening the border and flooding the country with unknowns and a lot of known dangerous people. So sure…play stupid games…win stupid prizes…But this is NOT HUMANE. This is vindictive and a lot of scapegoating. Its disgusting.

Having said all that…This all seems like a distraction for something larger…maybe the roll out of the new system of tech and control…

I believe the best comment was ARGO at the end of the movie when the producers were asked what ARGO meant. AR GO ____ yourself.

I had completely forgotten that film. Through one of the quirks of life, I met the son of one of the hostages through a then-shared interest in meditation and yoga. By then (spring 1981), his father was safe and he told me a story about meeting President Reagan.

But even then, I knew there was more to the whole story than we were being told.

… Here’s another set of lyrics … California Reamin’

Original Song Title: "California Dreamin’"
Original Performer: The Mamas & The Papas
Parody Song Title: "California’s Reamin’"
Parody Written by: Immoral Liberal

All the streets are brown (All the streets are brown)
With bums’ fecal spray. (With bums’ fecal spray.)
Can’t go for a walk; (Can’t go for a walk;)
I’d be stabbed today. (With a rusty blade.)
I’d be better off (As in, I’d be safe)
Were I not in L.A. (Or this terrible state.)
California’s reamin’ (California’s reamin’)
Drove decent folks away.

Can’t go pray in church:
That’s illegal these days.
This state’s run by fascist freaks, (Child-raping commies,)
Who hate my pale white face. (Racist bigots, these.)
With rolling blackouts and ā€œwokeā€ scolds; (And tranny pedos;)
This whole state’s a disgrace! (As are all blue states…)
California’s reamin’ (California’s reamin’)
Drove commerce from this place…

[Mournful Wind Instrument Interlude]

Glass strewn on the ground; (broken car windows;)
Needles strew the way. (Crack and heroin.)
Can’t go for a walk; (I’d be raped and shanked;)
I’d be slain today. (This city’s ablaze.)
Gotta leave this hellhole; (It’s like Venezuela;)
Gotta flee L.A. (This flaming cesspit.)
California’s reamin’ (California’s reamin’)
Made this a hellish place…
California’s reamin’:
Its eternal disgrace…
California’s reamin’
Just drove out its tax base!

agree on their priorities. My take; they’re losing face due to lack of progress and decided to go after the easy low hanging fruit (pardon pun) to be able to get some MSM press. ā€œsee, we’re doing what we saidā€ Losing face on virtually every topic from what I see. The ā€˜stick to the plan’ ā€˜5d chess’ thing was tossed in the dumpster a while back for most of us. I see bravado, bungling, and yes good intentions for the most part.

Like someone recently said (I forget who)…all Trump has done is paint the deep state red.

Correct.
While people whine about racism and immigrants and tarriffs (too old now?) the Borg system is being implemented in the Big Beautiful Bill with AI and Palantir and it’s absolutely disgusting and terrifying.
And the ā€˜net’ was not too wide, the arrests which sparked the riots were for money laundering illegal immigrants.

I live in SoCal and have seen it myself that the net is cast too wide…at least imo. They’ve picked up local street vendors who serve food (fruit, tacos, etc.) that have been in the community for years. And ICE recently started picking people up at bus stops.

So…in my view, this immigration policy is def not narrowly tailored enough. There’s a reasonable middle ground somewhere…

I don’t support the riots. Im disgusted by people waiving foreign flags while destroying property. Its frustrating to watch, to say the least.

… simply by being ā€œin the community for yearsā€ does not make one a ā€œlegalā€ immigrant.

I hoped it would be better executed, but perhaps they are only arresting these street vendors temporarily to check their status if they have not the ability to show legality in the moment. I am all for legal residency for those who have been paying taxes and contributing with businesses for years, instead of deportation.
I will clarify my statement above by saying they need a work permit first including a proper SSN . they should have had one all along. My wife got a work permit first, (after her marriage visa) and then Permanent Residency second.
You dont get to be official just because you were working. But the working , if you have been investigated and are clean, helps show good character.
She had to prove that she was not going to be a drain on the state.

I never said that it did.

Yeah that’s basically my view!

The problem with the idea of giving illegal immigrants permanent residency status after owning a business and paying taxes is it does not negate the possibility of money laundering or funding crime with said businesses. so its not a one size fits all scenario and we all know how the GOV works.
Deporting is quicker and easier.
At the end of the day, if you are here illegally, you are criminal, whether you have been paying taxes or not.

Its definitely not a one size fits all solution. There’s plenty of American run businesses engaging in money laundering…i know i know , thats besides that point. Basically I’d like for people who came into this country illegally, who are working, paying taxes, not engaged in crime, and contributing to their communities positively, to have a pathway to citizenship…On the other hand, I’d like the border to be secured so no more illegal immigration takes place…

a one time ā€œgoodā€ illegal immigrant jubilee

… then why do you point out ā€œThey’ve picked up local street vendors who serve food (fruit, tacos, etc.) that have been in the community for years.ā€ It would appear that you are claiming that there should be an exemption for ā€œthose that have been in the community for yearsā€ in that you show surprise that they are ā€œbeing picked upā€. Just curious if any of those who were ā€œpicked upā€ who have ā€œbeen in the community for yearsā€ turned out to be here illegally. If they were here legally or were citizens then they should file suit and demand a public apology.
