… Wow! these Data Centers are going to take up too much of our criminal illegal resources … lets sorta, kinda slow them down for while. Not enough graft for everyone.

Gov. has no business sense. They should make a deal with the data center to build their own power plant, with a capacity exceeding the data centers needs by an agreed upon amount, that allows for the data centers growth and sale of excess electricity to the surrounding communities. The moneys from the power plant will also help the datacenter and power plant amortization.
Don’t have enough right kind of popaganda?
Perhaps mass killer shots into the right demographics would work?
Try a few things, and then come back in a year or two?
Didn’t the president sign an EO that states could not interfere with technology wanted by the fed - something like that…
They want to control what States can do about AI.
States have a Constitutional right to make their own laws regarding AI.
But, the Federal Government doesn’t recognize the US Constitution.
Unless, it happens to enhance their ideologies and/or pockets.
So true. Too many Americans don’t realize the change or never knew anything about the Constitution anyway. Alass
Resistance to our electronic panopticon was expected regarding the build out of the needed Data Centers. The reporting on protesting and organizing to slow the Data Centers was considered and approved, however the one topic never to be mentioned in news reports was the eventual use of them to control transactions both monetary and physical.
… apropos to the subject of Data Centers …

Alleluia and make them pay 80/90% of all carbon related taxes and charges which they use and generate. Well the Silicon Valley is pro sustainable goals. No?
How about a tax on silicon too?
A very good point given Silicon Valley is somewhat like a proffered new “Eden”
… first Maine … now Virginia
This trend, catching on like fire; couldn’t happen fast enough!
A very good news missive inded.
… unfortunately, being quite jaded at this point in my life, when I read of such a thing after a moment of calm I immediately begin to wonder if they have abandoned this plan to do something even worse in a way that is much harder to for us “plain folk” to detect.
Your, by no means - The Lone Ranger.
Perhaps stalling data centers pending release of technology that reduces costs and objections to a huge building requiring massive water and electricity. Same plan, different infrastructure.
… or recall not so long ago that there was talk about putting them in orbit. The Space Launch System (SLS) rocket used for Artemis missions provides over 8.8 million pounds of liftoff thrust. It can lift over 95 metric tons (over 209,000 lbs) to Low Earth Orbit (LEO). … or could it be that Artemis was looking for build sites on the back side of the Moon hence the trip around and a few thousand miles out to see how easy those dark side build sites might be to locate. Just an idea …
… this out only 3 days ago … Science & Tech Spotlight:Data Centers in Space
GAO-26-109012 Published: Apr 28, 2026. Publicly Released: Apr 28, 2026.
Maybe someone I know will start a local group and call it something like ACT (Anti Camera Team)
and they will go spray paint and cut down all the AI connected cameras sprouting up throughout the land.
It is an issue that Left and Right both can agree upon.
While our governments ignore us.
Just happened in my town and state (anti surveillance state legislation shot down by the Governor and Mayor due to police and gov ‘support’ ).
Looks like “they’re” hell bent on data centers one way or another…”You’ll have data centers whether you like it or not.”
