Movie 'The Apprentice'

I went to see the movie yesterday and left with mixed feelings. It clarified somewhat the DJT relationship to Roy Cohn, and it put into story context most of the critical information I’ve read in the past about the man and his nature (ego, bankruptcies, disloyalty etc).

My feelings were mixed. On the negative side character, motivations and origins of his business principles (Cohn - win at all costs and lie along the way) come to mind.

On the positive side, I found myself thinking the old adage ‘it takes a thief to catch a thief’, and the inclusion of the concept of payback for being wronged being an element of business practice (why Dems are so worried perhaps?).

The intent of the movie clearly is to paint him badly now I know among less committed voters, but the effect may actually be (as it was for me) to cement that he’s not a Saint by any measure and may be a bit of a devil, but he’s OUR devil and our best shot at dodging the looming political disaster.

If you want to maintain your mental image of DJT as knight in shining armor leading a pack of lions…don’t go see it.

I really don’t need to see this to know what there is to know. DJT, Musk, Tucker, etc… they are my knights in Saran Wrap but it’s the only plastic that helps me stay fresh the most.

Was Cohn’s interest for Trump based on amorous feelings or more linked to business ( in the movie) ?
I hear the acting is great, but is the movie another Trump hit piece or is the film actually interested in making a fair portrait of him?

If it is a hit piece or not I expect depends on your perspective. Never Trumpers would probably see it as a milk toast critique. Die hard Trumpers would see it as negative, but perhaps a bit eye opening (my friend had this reaction).

On Cohn; he likely had amorous intentions for anyone with XY chromosomes…but the film didn’t leave the impression anything developed. More than likely he saw in DJT a bit of himself in the sense of all out motivation to succeed at any cost. There’s an old saying “the best man for the job is the one you believe yourself to be”.

Cohn’s interest/involvement was early on in DJT’s real estate career. After DJT had learned the tricks and built some momentum he distanced himself and stopped taking Cohn’s calls.

DJT got a lot of connections to powerful people through Cohn, and encouragement. In contrast his father was critical and held DJT back. Which of these would you as an aggressive young businessman gravitate toward?

Yes, I heard the Cohn/ father conflict for motivational figures in his life.
If he really wanted Cohn’s company in his life or just saw an opportunity to get more opportunities, as psychopaths tend to take, I guess we’ll never know.
