Namib’s geomorphic phenomenon known as "fairy circles"

Namib’s geomorphic phenomenon known as “fairy circles”, barren patches of sand encircled by a single species of grass are found throughout the Namib Desert.

It had been observed for 1000s of years and after much research there is no clear theory what causes the effect.

The phenomenon is noted in ancient rock inscriptions.

No it is not termites as some have tried to suggest. The termites are equally distributed through the area and only 10% have a circle.
