Net Zero and institutional capture

Below is a very interesting discussion on net zero policies in the UK, and their absolute absurdity, on the Triggernometry Youtube channel.

What’s of particular interest is the degree to which the current, and recent, UK governments appear relatively powerless due to the ideological capture of the civil service and central bank. These seem to be limiting information to governments, after they were made ‘independent’ under the government of Tony Blair. Since their independence they appear to have been completely captured by ideological forces. Somewhat reminiscent of the institutional capture of the US after Roosevelt’s three terms in office.

I don’t think the roots of the ideological capture of public institutions in the UK in the last 25 years is generally grasped at all. Understanding this goes some way to explaining the seeming tone-deaf incompetence of recent UK governments, including the current administration.

Thanks for a great post and video. It would seem that a “draining of the swamp” is perhaps needed in the UK too.

Oh what a tangled web bureaucracies weave; under the guise of civil servants.
Great video! BUT, very detailed. Which ironically is; both its strength, and weakness.
Primarily focuses on information flows, and the energy industries.
