I think that Washington and its cronies found a new source of grift. First it was Cold War and military build up against Soviet/Russia boogey men. Now it is China and the race for faster AI.
All paid by American taxpayers. Problem is the classes that use to contribute the most, are shrinking and getting poorer.
I have a feeling, that now it is a turn to rob upper classes including millionaires and billionaires. It may get pretty bloody at the top again.
