I got this very heartening news, which I hope goes somewhere, from one of my far right Ukrainian Telegram sources today.
They added ‘I would like to add a comment in the spirit of: “It’s about time. We need a Europe of Nations, not the ruins of empires filled with foreigners.”’
Imagine if NI could secede from UK and become part of the island again?
If Scotland wouldn’t be filled with DEI nonsense?
If Wales wasn’t just treated as a backyard to dump refugees?

Wales, hasn’t really seen as many refugees as England or Scotland. But I would say Wales has seen more English incomers into rural areas of Wales since the early to mid 70’s.

I suspect in the case of NI, it would add more weight of political logic, however, it doesn’t address the emotional aspects and there could be a violent reaction as well. Who knows. There is still a underlying seam of of low level antagonism and hatred even. Also suspect than any reunification would take at least 10 years to get into position to limit violence that could ensue.

It will be interesting, as Scotland and NI would each have current administrations which are pro-immigration, (think Swedish election results) while Wales may not be so inclined.
The same sectarian tensions exist in Scotland as in Northern Ireland so any split would be challenging to say the least for both nations. However, more challenging still is the ‘progressive’ nature of the government’s of the Celtic nations, who would have their own nation back in the EU in no time at all.
Each nation would struggle to reconcile their progressive credentials with reality, and I suspect all would financially struggle initially without the fake elixir of EU cash which would undoubtedly flow to entice each nation in to an even stronger vice-like grip of control from Brussels rather than London.
I think it’s possible for each nation to make a go of it on their own, but that would involve a confrontation with an increasingly harsh reality. And certainly from here in Scotland, I don’t sense any desire for the progressively comfortable middle classes to confront the brutal reality that is becoming more readily visible every day.
The cause of Scottish independence was on a significant rise just before the planscamdemic, after the referendum loss in 2014, and was being openly discussed again in the mainstream media. That this is all being talked about again, and I suspect indirectly pushed by the new Labour government of Andy Burnham, strikes me as a distraction from whatever financial event is on the immediate horizon.
The majority of the population of the UK, no matter the nation, seems desperately trying to avoid a daily, ever-more-grim, reality. Much preferring the fantasy politics of progressively conceited and comfortable middle-class nationalism.

Unification will be the elephant in the room regarding Northern Ireland, likely would become a very visible one. So that is likely to backed off for 10 or 20 years. If NI is to become self determined entity, it is almost the same resistance as for unification. Reminded of what was happening on the Island just prior to WW1. Is there a war brewing perhaps?
