I have dim but dire recollections of my 8th grade Earth Sciences teacher discussing the first (modern recorded) eruption of Krakatoa in 1883, including the impact on world-wide activities, agriculture, travel and trade.
The one aspect I seem to recall was how far volcanic explosion’s noise traveled throughout the South Pacific. There is a segment in our “cosmic space bro’s” video segment with a comparison between a sketch of the original mountaintop caldera circa 1883, versus the explosion crater currently resident in the explosion spot in 2019.
Perhaps it’s just my imagination…or the propensity for Stefan to cover the geophysical events (the bread and butter of his content)…but it seems like we’re living through an uptick in geophysical activity of late.
Just a natural cyclical up-welling of magma from the Earth’s mantle?
~or~ perhaps a spike in particle bombarding the Earth from the Sun, or even the Galactic center?
~or~ “Angles don’t play this HAARP”?
Too early to distinguish. Perhaps the activity simmers down, ~or~ if the words of Doom Prophets a la Gordon Michael Scallion turn out to contain mettle all these years later., … we might be witnessing a rebirth of deadly volcanic activity marked throughout Earth’s past.
Hopefully this more of a “one shot” deal instead of a Decaan Traps moment.
