I was referring to land navigation. Traveling on foot. I haven’t been on a plane in over 20 years. Back then, the airlines hired pilots on merit and the nice folks got me to where they said we were going, whatever geometric shape we traversed. The flat/round argument is sort of intriguing, but at this point I can’t prove or disprove either way. I think I will be okay though.
I was military, as per the land navigation instruction, even on a flat map topo map mind you, there was still “magnetic declination,” so as to assure some one, in this case myself, was walking “true north.”
Ok so, that’s with a map and compass and protractor. Explain why that would be part of land navigation if the “globe aspect” didn’t matter? I suppose a different way to ask this exact same question is, what would be the difference in Magnetic north and True North on a flat earth and why would it be there, i.e. what would physically cause it?
