Novo Nordisk to build $4.1 billion North Carolina facility to boost output of Wegovy, Ozempic

If they can’t get more deaths with jabs, try weight-loss meds. What a concept. Whomever thought of this one is truly, diabolically brilliant. (Have to wonder if AI crunched some data here?)

“Glucagon-like peptide (GLP) is an incretin, secreted from the L-cells in the distal intestine in response to food consumption to enhance glucose-dependent insulin secretion from the pancreasand reduce glucagon secretion during fasting.”

The jury is still out on GLP drugs. It could be a metabolism repair mechanism. It could be that. 1/3 of the country is in a pre diabetes condition and would benefit from the enhanced management of blood sugar. It is all about metabolism and processing of glucose into energy versus fat.

Yes, I read that too when it first came on market; but does it truly induce the person to eat differently? Although I have no experience with the drug, I would imagine a person might have to stay on it the rest of their life; just like watching their diet for the rest of their life. Great for pharma bottom line! I do have experience with a number of people who’ve had gastric by-pass or lap band, and all but one gained the weight back; 90 lbs. or more.

Defeating insulin resistance, and losing weight and keeping it off is more difficult that anything else I’ve seen people go through. You can stop drinking, smoking, drugging, etc. and live to tell about it, never touching the substance again. You must eat, and are being asked to control it. Very different scenario.

Either way, pharma / medicine makes lots of money.

The problem with these new meds in health care is that they are being tailored for smaller and smaller biochemical metabolic chains. They are being portrayed as a fixers of entire metabolic problems instead of a small fraction they represent. Insulin metabolism is co complicated and convoluted and so many other hormones and active metabolites are involved that putting all chips on one type is not good practice of medicine, but simply a another grift by big pharma

Yes, these smaller metabolic actions are crucial! Not only that, but we should essentially take pharmas word for what this injection is and what it targets? I mean, they’ve never lied to us about an injection before, right?

Healthy food and physical exercise are the way to go for weight loss!!

… What range of profits are there to be made that warrant this large of an “investment”? Just a simple question …

Transhuman philosophy surpasses profits?
