It certainly is now I think. when I was there, the “Americanization” of some faculties was just beginning, and I warned my British friends about it. There were CERTAINLY radicals when I was there, but there were also many Tory “dries” and “wets”, not to mention some SDP-Liberal types, who kept things more or less sane. I don’t recognize it now, though I do note with some satisfaction that the Oxford Union Society has issued a statement noting that it’s president-elect will be facing some sort of as-yet-unspecified disciplinary action.
