“Uncrewed” is the euphemism for drones? The word doesn’t even register in Spellcheck yet. Haven’t seen the word mentioned in news articles, just the drones used in bombing and killing. Guess the word begets a negative thought.
Good thing most don’t recognize the fascist tendency in the word collaborator…
“teamwork between industry and government”.
Can it be any plainer who’s running things?

The basic idea is for ‘buddy craft’ I’ll call them that … which are launched and fly along with a fighter jet, and which are controlled by that jet. It gives the pilot access to much more firepower than can be carried on-board in the immediate fight without an expensive wingman (or several). The fighter pilot has network communications with / controls launch of weapons aboard the ‘drone’. A fighter might have 2,3,4 of these flying along. Helps make up for the numerically superior air forces of countries that can make their combat jets cheap (but are less capable). There are a couple threads to this. Cheap disposable ‘drones’ (what this contract is about) and more capable, recoverable drones (which the major aerospace mfrs are focusing on). Call them what you want, they are ways to get the capability of many more weapon platforms than we could otherwise afford to buy. There have been drones in the inventory for decades now…but they have been remotely ground-controlled, not controlled by actual combat pilots in the air.

And…Government and Industry have collaborated to develop flying things since the days of the Wright Flyer…in fact I don’t believe there have ever been any aircraft in the US military inventory that weren’t developed in a ‘collaborative’ fashion. USG doesn’t have or wish to have the capability to design or build their own aircraft. Thus government / industry teamwork is necessary to have any capability.

Yes the cartel was established early on for the business of destroying and killing. Great way to instill fear…nevertheless government using industry and industry using government to pay for these schemes is still fascist.
