Nova Scotians are more than a little ticked off at the RCMP in this fiasco. This is not the first time this type of incident as occurred in Canada in the last few years. This massacre exemplified the complete lack of leadership at the local level, just imagine what its like at the national level. One need only look at the many lawsuits brought forth by officers themselves which reveals the true nature of the leadership of the RCMP at all levels. There were real police officers on the ground there but were hamstrung by an inept leadership and inexperienced co-workers. 3 old school cops with a quart of rum between them would have ended this in 2-3 hours and that’s not meant to disparage the police…that’s a fact. Welcome to Nova Scotia. Oops I almost forgot the one question that never gets asked in these situations in Canada: Who was his handler?
“The family of murder victim Heather O’Brien responded with fury when the commission’s summary of evidence elided one particularly unpleasant fact: Data from O’Brien’s Fitbit showed that her heart continued to beat many hours after RCMP Const. Ian Fahie, who attended the aftermath of her shooting, had wrongly concluded that she was dead — and shooed away paramedics because an active shooter incident was underway.”
"Commission counsel Roger Burrill explained that he glossed over the Fitbit detail because he thought people might find it “disturbing.”
“Imagine that — who would have thought that an honest and competent investigation into the murder of 22 citizens might turn up anything disturbing.”
And this folks is only ONE snafu of many in this whole investigative fiasco.
