This is probably Mt. Tabor, a recreation park with trails, old growth trees, and a reservoir, although it is more like a hill with a nice view of Portland. Someone pointed out the low melting point of asphalt and it is interesting to see the steam venting out in places. It has been in the 30’s the past few days and it would be nice to know when the movie was captured. Some misinfo here in that Mt. Tabor is an extinct volcano and was not active 100 years ago as claimed by the young lad. Portland education is not the best. Also, there is no plasma fire here to be seen as witnessed in other areas and posted earlier by myself and others. There is probably some geo thermal activity going on but nothing like in Yellowstone or elsewhere. There was much lava flow in Oregon many many moons ago, making it an interesting spot for geologists with the Ginko lava rock of note.
Thanks for posting this, but all the alarms to move in the link’s comments are probably unfounded because Mt. Tabor is not considered a dormant volcano. It is something to note and others would have more knowledge of geology than me. There have been reports of tunneling Deep Underground Military Bases in the state, but that is just DUMB…
Thanks @Dooderonomy
I was more concerned with the bubbling I saw. Don’t know when this was recorded but agree with you about the area.
Don’t expect anything out of Yellowstone but always keeping an eye on Long Valley, as it’s hard capped.
Dutchsinse and Suspicious Observers on YouTube are just a few who have been noting the uptick in volcanic activity as of late.
The Cascadia Subduction Zone, primarily Oregon and Washington,is one of the areas overdue for release and has volcanoes still capable of erupting.
We are overdue in Portland for the “Big One” but being from the SF Bay Area originally, that really does not scare me as much as the potential damage to very susceptible environmental disasters that could result. They have been routing oil cars on the rail road through Portland recently showing how relaxed the formerly pro environmental policies have become. Now, there are all these holding tanks by the railroad tracks and along the Willamete and Columbia Rivers holding toxic substances such as chlorine, toluene, and natural gas. Some were built recently with outdated architecture that is illegal in most states due to safety concerns. Corruption in the government is what I expect, but the motive may be the “disaster capitalism” techniques of these huge corporations and natural resource monopolies with their NGO’s and “think tanks.” To think that they don’t see fit to update Fukushima style nuclear reactors in WA is telling.
