Pre-Columbian Petroglyphs

Located in El Yunque National Forest. The Petroglyphs dates back to around 1,000 to 2,000 years old. The Taino deity is called Yucahú Bagua-Maorocoti, in their Pantheon he is considered the top god. He lived in the mountain, the place was considered sacred for the Indians. The only information that we got is from the Spanish chronicles.

The location is off limits, only archeologist are able to have access. Is very well guarded with cameras and a hard to reach area. The archeologists that have written about it, say that what’s up there is serious. Without knowing what they are, just by looking them, is serious folks. The petroglyphs are different from other Taino art found in San Juan, is more elaborated. Let’s just say, the petroglyphs are a subject of discussion. What were they thinking? I don’t know. There is a stone replica in the museum at the University of Turabo. A scan was taken and is on display.

Up that trail you find another site, the art is more elaborated.

Another phenomenon are the stone spheres. Archeologists don’t know for what they were used for.

Two years ago I visited Puerto Rico for one week and two weeks on Vieques Island. I loved the free range chickens, cats, iguanas and horses. We got to visit the many beautiful & deserted beaches and the huge sacred 400 year old Cieba tree.
We also found the old military bunkers, that are being taken over by the jungle.
It got me wondering if the military bombing on Culebra & Vieques Islands were done to destroy artifacts they don’t want us to know about. Like your picture of petroglyphs showing a previous civilization before the Tianos. I believe “they” have destroyed and hidden much of our true history worldwide.
I remember reading that the Tianos practiced skull deformation, which makes me wonder what they were trying to emulate. It was common for the Amazon civilization also.

The Iguanas are not from San Juan is an infestation, somebody brought these creatures illegally and they are creating problems. I was chatting with an Archeologist, who recently investigated a burial site of a horse and in the neck there was one of these spheres. He tells me, that the stone spheres are some type of offering and is found exclusively around animals. The Indians didn’t bury their dead, but you do see burial sites of animals.
