“This is basically a crisis of approaches and principles that determines the very existence of humans on Earth; but we will have to seriously have to revise them in any event.”
“It is necessary to fight for real values, upholding them in every way.”
“I would like to add that the transformation we are seeing and part of is of a different calibre than the changes that repeatedly occurred in human history, at least those we know about”
What I don’t like about his speech is that he talks of the “climate change” the increasing “natural disaster” like the fires, draughts, hurricanes, tsunamis, and that these are becoming the new norm.
Putin, has to know that these are not “natural”. That there is covert war going on; where “Acts of God” are being used as cover.
So, I suppose being diplomatic means; an-agreed-upon-fable must be maintained for the holi polloi.
Haven’t read the whole speech.
One would have to not only read between the lines; but even deeper, to try and ferret out different meanings; that more or less align, w/what is going on at the deepest levels - where the real deal is.
He does warn of the coming extreme food shortages, power failures, poverty and inequalities.
At least he’s painting their dystopian future;
a future that has already been scripted[IMO}.
Later on Putin speaks to the science fiction as no longer having an exclusive domain, and gets into discussing issues this site is known for; about the technologies getting beyond human grasp; indeed that machines may surpass humans in some aspects, and become something else entirely. Where are the ethics?
Are we losing track of the important question of what will our children become?
So the speech does start going deep.
Putin then goes for the internationalism throat saying; it’s obvious, the Nation States’ sovereignty is the way. That the international order should simply realize it, and stop trying to interfere; that it is impossible to impose anything on anyone, be it the principles underlying sociopolitical structures or universal values.
Then goes on to the bottom line of it all: human life.
Finally he tells of how the West is going to where Russia was in 1917.
They are trying to change existing ways and customs[like doing away w/the traditional notions of mother, father, family, and even gender] and not just political and economic ones but the very notion of human morality and the foundations of a heathy society. The destruction of age-old values, religion and relations between people, up to and including the total rejection of family[we had that too[1917], encouragement to inform on loved ones - all this was proclaimed progress.
***If you look to the bottom, there is a complete video version in English.
Looks like a film strip icon in blue ink; when you hoover over it shows “video”.
Listening further Putin hedged around the mandatory quackcine issue; seeming to be for the injection, and trusting your government.
Also, on energy; he seemed to say Russia is looking to be carbon efficient and lower its footprint.
Not impressive responses.
But his audience are government employed; in some way, or another.
This is probably the most important speech in Putin’s career. We’ll hear it referenced in years to come IMO.
I would agree that Putin’s speech may be the most important in his career; it is magisterial. Now the translation is not perfect, but one can get his general meaning. I was most interested in this paragraph directed at someone (or “someones”) in the People’s Republic of China, the PLA, and the CCP:
"In recent decades, many people have cited a Chinese proverb. The Chinese people are wise, and have many thinkers and valuable thoughts that we can still use today. One of them, as you may know, says, “God forbid living in a time of change.” But we are already living in it, whether we like it or not, and these changes are becoming deeper and more fundamental. But let us consider another Chinese wisdom: the word “crisis” consists of two hieroglyphs – there are probably representatives of the People’s Republic of China in the audience, and they will correct me if I have it wrong – but, two hieroglyphs, “danger” and “opportunity.” And as we say here in Russia, “fight difficulties with your mind, and fight dangers with your experience.” "
Putin later says:
“Again, for us in Russia, these are not some speculative postulates, but lessons from our difficult and sometimes tragic history. The cost of ill-conceived social experiments is sometimes beyond estimation. Such actions can destroy not only the material, but also the spiritual foundations of human existence, leaving behind moral wreckage where nothing can be built to replace it for a long time.”
This paragraph above bears more reflexion and contemplation.
The complete text of the speech is there now. The last part of the Q&A still missing.
Perhaps it is the translation to some extent but especially his opening sounds like a Davos Globalist, who, in talking about the pandemic does just what the rest of the WEF speakers do…goes to population, climate, food and housing (my translation: how are we going to deal with the ever growing herds).
He hits all the platitudes of human rights, freedoms and health. Oh and let’s not forget the statement on the growing inequality in wealth (says the billionaire). To me, he sounds just like all the rest of the speeches I have listened to from the one percent … they speak with all the right words but their actions, to me, are of a group of elites in concurrence that there is some impending doom if they do not do something about the great unwashed as soon as possible.
Reading the same tealeafs. As long as the hoi polloi think morals, ethics and values comes from ruling entities top down insted honed from within oneself bottom up, manipulation will be the diktat!
All I see are three parties fighting over a bone called imperial crown. The US that doesn’t know if it should hold on to that crown or the paradigm of stripping every resource on and in earth untill there is nothing left.
China seeminly playing along with the paradigm but had simultanious a different agenda rollout well planned out over decades.
And then there is that pesky country Russia you think conquered that never really goes away. The leader of that country well versed in world history and might run away with the bone that the other two are fighting over.
