They must be reading Dr. Ferrell’s books : )
I would be interested in Joseph’s analysis of what is being built. THAT would be fascinating.
Where I live in south Texas, the majority of homes have pyramid roofs. My speculation is the design is a hold over from the ancient pyramid design from Mexico and South America. Plus the air space in the attic seems to act as a buffer zone.
That is amazing that you write this because as I was driving yesterday from Blanco to Oklahoma and back on Route 281 (sort of a “back road”), I was noticing that this roof design does seem typical of traditional Texas homes. Coincidence?
Two thoughts:
- China has built quite a few replicas of famous structures from around the world: [China Gallery: Here Are 14 of Nation's Finest World Monument Replicas | TIME]. (This is inexplicable to me. Surely there are creative souls in China. Why would they not create new expressions of the Chinese soul or recreate from their own past?) Perhaps these pyramids are more of that genre.
- Robert Monroe, who wrote several books (“Journeys out of the Body”, “Far Journeys” and “Ultimate Journey”) on astral travel that he apparently taught himself to do, once attributed his ability to astral travel to living in a house with a square, pitched, metal roof like a pyramid. Is that the kind of roof you’re talking about?
This isn’t exactly it, but I believe the style is referred to as Texas bungalow. The peak is sometimes flattened and as Bill suggests, there are no openings (windows) through the roof. This is probably a modern “copy” .
