Not really sure what is meant by âtrainingâ, but not a far-fetched idea at all. Birds used for thousands of years to perform tasks similar; from Egypt to WW2.
Wonder if this could have anything to do with these flocks of birds that are falling to the ground dead? Not saying itâs so, just entertaining an idea.

If disease spread via birds works in North America, why wouldnât a similar situation work there? They donât have to be migratory birds either. Iâm sure thereâs lots of different birds that ignore the common border.

Thatâs exactly right! The birds carry the ticks, drop them & ticks hitch a ride on field mice & other mammals. Lyme is NOT originally a product of Plum Island, although B. Burdorferii strain might be. My grandmother had Lyme & RMSF, passed to my Mom & passed to me, all via congenital means. The strains seen in early US & Canada were well known by Native Americans who avoided certain areas during Spring & Fall months. After extensive testing, it was determined that the strain in my family was either afzellii or garinii, both Central European strains.
At this time, Lyme Disease is the 2nd most prevalent disease in 11 No. African nations, 2nd only to Malaria. Itâs been found on every continent with exception of Antarctica (& probably will be found there, eventually).

@ebmason Thanks for the info., I was not aware of this. Its still news here on Canadaâs east coast as the spread of ticks and the cases of Lyme disease are spreading at a very high rate. Many doctors here will still only diagnose Lyme as a last resort even though the provincial government started a vigorous campaign of tick and Lyme awareness 2-4 years ago.
Youâre fortunate if any doctor will treat a patient at all (with antibiotics) for Lyme.
Other than ticks, avoid blood transfusions, if at all possible & heavy infections are transmissible sexually & congenitally. No wonder itâs spread across the world so quickly. 10 years ago, Germany had about 2 million cases, France about a million & UK wonât release their numbers (big surprise, huh?).
