Liked the pics of the young Jon…

I also agree with his sentiments about ER doctors. In my recent in-and-out with the hospitals…only two stand-outs that really impressed me. Nursing staff are typically jaded, overworked, and just going through the motions.

Even the good ones have their hands tied. It’s a real crap-shoot and I don’t blame him for going out his own way. Much the same mind myself.

Jon was a warrior right up to the end…amazing what he accomplished since receiving his philosophy degree from Amherst College in 1960. It could be a reason philosophy degrees are made fun of, an intelligent independent thinking person is a threat to maintaining a narrative.

I am of a similar mind after my heart attack… I was literally in the ER for 16 hours, in the aftermath of what they assured me was a heart attack of the “widow-maker” variety, and then four days of being poked, prodded, and peeing like a Russian power lifter at a drug test, and endless attempts to make me take their quackcination covid potion injections until I finally closed that down by threatening to leave… Anyway, I first met Jon at the Secret Space Program conference in San Mateo ion 2014 through Catherine Fitts, and he, Walter Bosley, and I sat out on the motel balcony after each long conference day, talking… one of the BEST conversationists I’ve ever had the honor to talk with.

We kept a bag of these pins in the department. At the beginning of each Spring and Fall semester these were given to new Philosophy Majors as both a warning and a reminder. Godspeed Jon.
