Some, Saint Martin Luther quotes:
“I, Martin Luther, have during the rebellion slain all the peasants, for it was I who ordered them to be struck dead. All their blood is upon my head. But I put it all on our Lord God: for he commanded me to speak thus.”
"Peasants are no better than straw. They will not hear the word and they are without sense; therefore they must be compelled to hear the crack of the whip and the whiz of bullets and it is only what they deserve.”
“To kill a peasant is not murder; it is helping to extinguish the conflagration. Let there be no half measures! Crush them! Cut their throats! Transfix them. Leave no stone unturned! To kill a peasant is to destroy a mad dog! If they say that I am very hard and merciless, mercy be damned. Let whoever can stab, strangle, and kill them like mad dogs.”
Now… in the tradition of my Augustinian Roman Catholic guilt, I must admit that after the schism, the Bishop of Roma had babies, many babies. But seriously who did the marketing here? Luther rhetoric started a mass murdering campaign that cost the life of 330,000 to 350,000 people. When Luther started the “Protestant Reformation” the land was promised to the peasants. Later changed sides, because the nobles in Germany were backing him and wanted the lands that belonged to the Catholic Church. Luther told the nobles that the lands of the church will belong to them if they backed him. Talking about flip flopping huh? What happens to the peasants that lived in those lands ? Kill them, behead them, destroy them. The repression of peasants in Germany alone cost the life of 100,000 to 150,000 Germans.
Martin Luther had an extraordinary marketing, still to this day sold like a saint. He also taught that power came from God and God gives that power to the nobility and they didn’t had to be accountable to anyone. He is the father of monarchical absolutism. In my opinion also the great grandfather of racism and by Sola fide go kill those other people is OK, by faith alone comrades. Incidentally Luther was a contemporary to Hernán Cortés who did stop a genocide but ended up getting all the bad press.
There are three contemporaries of Luther, Padre Juan de Mariana, Padre Francisco Suárez, and Padre Francisco de Vitoria. They were teaching that power came from God, but God does not give that power to the Monarchs. God gives that power to the people and the people gives that power to the king for him to govern like a father. And if the king doesn’t govern like a father, power returns to the people, and the people have the right of rebellion and tyrannicide. That was Catholic Spain, two different world views and that is what was taught to the Indians in America. That was what the Jesuits taught the Indians.
So no Manifest Destiny in Hispanic America. No way Jose! Two complete different civilizations one is Western, the other is a fake and ersatz substitute playing to be Rome. With all the problems of the schism - not denying the Augustinian retarderies - the Western Roman Empire ended in Mexico, not in Russia, and certainly not in that building with a Mason wearing pajamas in the capitol building.
