Some Unjabbed Saved By Day-Long Rain Bomb

I live in a very densely populated area & have yet to see any deaths or long-lasting illness from those jabbed but, that doesn’t mean it won’t eventually happen.

A month ago, my apt. mgmt put out a notice that they were offering free jab at the clubhouse on that Saturday. I thought it odd that an apt. complex would offer such a thing & replied to the note. Mgr. told me how they were just trying to help people, blah, blah. This is the same Mgr. who scoffed at me when I told her the country was going to shut down a month before it did & also about internet outage & it did go out.

That Saturday called for 80% chance of rain, which doesn’t mean it will rain hard, but just messy drizzle. I thought that I wished it would pour & just felt sad for the people who would show up to get stuck.

Decided to get in my car & go park by the clubhouse to see what the response was to this jab invitation. I no sooner got parked when it started to rain - hard! I could barely see anything out of the windshield, except outlines of buildings & other objects. I did notice there was no ambulance or EMS personnel vehicle present. (How stupid is that.) After about a half hour, still raining very hard with drive & street starting to flood a bit, I saw 2 female figures run inside the bldg; looked like a woman w/daughter or granddaughter. 15 minutes later, they ran back out & turned the corner.

Another half hour passed & nobody else showed in that time. Worried that I might get flooded, I made my way back to my bldg. & parked under cover. Turned off the engine, looked out the windshield & just said, “Thank You”. Got soaking wet walking down the drive to my apt, grinning the whole time; I’m a gardener, so I don’t care about getting rained on.

It rained hard all day, flooded some cars in the lot, flooded the driveways; nobody was going anywhere that Saturday.

Of course, mgmt isn’t really speaking to me anymore & will likely raise my rent, substantially but, I don’t care. It was a wild & beautiful thang!

With the roads icing over now & due to be frigid cold the next few days, I have to wonder how many people will no show for the needle.

Food for thought.
