Sone fruit season is now upon us

Hello everyone!

It’s STONE FRUIT TIME in the Albertan Prairies. You know what that means! I have 16 litres (about 4 gallons) of sour cherry liquor that’s just getting started. All are invited to share on the deck.

Barely enough Apricot and rosemary JAM for the next year.
Enough sweet black cherries in the freezer for 3 big Strudels.

Pretty soon, it’ll be Asian plum sauce (brown a pork roast, throw it into the slow cooker with a jar of plum sauce, add a little water (or wine), turn it on for 6 hours and voila! Dinner is served).

Next week, it’ll be nectarine salsa. Maybe I’ll freeze some for later.

And, of course, enough frozen blueberries for blueberry shrubs! No Saskatoons this year, sadly. Saskatoon shrub (and pie!) s an experience of its own. Can you call it a Saskatoon clafoutis if there are no raspberries/cherries?

Dangit! If I was so far away, I’d be there!
