I have argued for many years that the Irish Diaspora (40 million in USA alone) should have voting rights at least to 3rd generation relational status. At present even those whom have worked paid taxes and social insurance for their working careers in Ireland, but who have emigrated are not allowed to vote. This is wrong but a vote granted up to 2nd Generation relationship at least is Ireland’s only immediate hope together with Trump/Vance applying pressure. Am betting it would help in the mid terms. The year to April 2025 saw 125,000 enter the country, 67000 Irish (well educated and skilled) have left because they can and because they have no life possibilities at home any more.

Didn’t Spain run off the Jews because they were city builders in competition with the monarchy who preferred a bucolic country of peasants who weren’t considered a threat to their rule?

The best I can figure out based on the reading I’ve done so far is there has been a conflict raging since before antiquity between families who prefer developing human potential and those adverse to the idea so as to maintain their bucolic lifestyle. History is a record of the ups and downs of deceitful ploys on both sides, utilizing all means, especially technological advances, suppression of or corrupting knowledge to realize their goal.
Humanists versus ant-humanists as we see in today’s geopolitical shenanigans. Propaganda and perception control plays a huge part.
