2027 marks the 300th anniversary of the first performance of Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion. Orchestras all over the world have been preparing for this year for a LONG time. The most important role in the Passion is The Evangelist (tenor), and there are very few tenors who can actually perform the role. They’ve been booked years in advance.
Please (!) check out who is performing it this year in your community! It is one of the greatest artistic achievement of human art (along with the Prodigal Son of Rembrandt).
