Never read about this part of French 1789 revolution. Evidently when the Catholic Churches were closed and robbed, they were turned into temples for worshiping the God of Reason using icons like Cybele aka Isis from antiquity. The priestcraft were required to renounce their vows and perform ceremonies for cult or be killed. Seems churches are now prone to being burned or turned into mosques….
Found about them in this book. Had to read it, especially after one of the authors was dished last week…
