CNN blames the dead fish on… drum roll please… Climate change! The sad thing is that there are plenty of boobs out there who will accept that explanation, no questions asked. It’s curious how there were no warning signs, it all just happened in one day… and to only one species of fish… and it does not appear any birds or other wildlife are feasting on those fresh fish killed by “climate change.”
Why not climate change brought on by aliens? Not enough of a setup to pay attention, ABC News. Gees.
Quite frankly, the streams in Central TX have been totally dried up for 2 years, BONE DRY. Still just have puddles even after a 2" downpour… so FISH? Wonder where they came from?
We have gone from really crazy storm nuclei that spin all kinds of ugly in them (lightning, hail, torrential downpour) that have passed by us. We could always use more rain, but the purple mixed with white flex on radar— uh, no thanks. We had a low of 10F in December just as plants were thinking about winter and then now, June, (NOT AUGUST) they are calling for a possible 112F+ by the weekend.
We have discussed the disaster capitalism being played out in the American Continent- the USMCA. Pretty united in the attacks on the agricultural (food) and forest ecology). See threads on fires in Canada, storms in US, etc.
At least I was able to stack all the down branches from the week long ice storm we had in late winter into a rabbit and small bird safety zone completely around my house, trapping my big (slightly crippled) 120lb Great Pyrenees in the yard to fend off the deer. The actual rain has allowed me a momentary bonus of pretending that 30 years of designing pretty gardens could actually benefit that quiet bird sanctuary just outside my kitchen window.
It sounds like you have some pretty crazy weather out there
It’s also interesting that none of the fish look emaciated like they had been deprived of food either. I hope your garden and birds are okay!
You can try to grow a garden, have about every degree, years of experience, and master gardening accolades but if you have to water with a hose, plants survive.
God Waters.
We are talking THRIVE.
I would be more interested in the toxicology report on those fish.
It probably wasn’t even the heat.
They said low oxygen levels were the culprit, not heat… But none of it makes any sense. I don’t think we will ever get any honest answers on this fishy fish story.
“The phenomenon — known as a “fish kill” — is common as temperatures rise in the summer, the state department said.”
Yeah, almost every year and then, the water and fish adjust.
“While no one has connected this specific incident to climate change, researchers have said such kills may become more prevalent as temperatures warm and oxygen levels in lakes across the United States and Europe drop.”
Why this statement was included as a LAKE, I know not. GOM is one big lake…With Tuna!
Yea but here’s my problem…
Why is it just one species of fish? If the ocean did not have enough oxygen, where are all the other dead animals.
Why haven’t I seen any pictures of Birds and other animals eating the fish?
Why does it happen all in one day? It’s a huge ocean and in one day, Zap all the oxygen is gone? Killing one species.
Maybe this whole story is becoming fishy?
Well I certainly don’t buy the o-fish-al story
Fishing is predicted to improve further north if fish migrate away from the equator if temperatures rise there.
I pray for the fish… The problem is I’m not a scientist and it is hard to get good information about what is going on. People can predict anything they want, I want to know exactly why they predict what they predict.
We know the weather is wacky… but what part does global spraying, cloud seeding, HAARP, the thousands of nuclear tests that are conducted in the atmosphere and CERN’s effect on our magnetic poles… influence the weather? Unless the person predicting this stuff takes that into account, how reliable can their predictions be?
Also if fish migrate into a new environment will that take into account other migratory animals and fish? What happens if an invasive species is introduced?
There are just so many questions… But common sense tells me Climate change is a scam to herd people into a control grid… because all of the “solutions” proposed are garbage. Climate taxes, 15 minutes cities, Electric Vehicles with kill switches that get their energy from the coal burning electrical grid… It’s all just a power grab.
Even the Deputy Secretary of Energy cannot tell us a darn thing about what cutting our emissions will actually do or how much it will cost.
Some fish, esp. the prey fish like Menhaden seem to be more susceptible to this. I’ve seen it many times. We call them ‘piggy perch’.
Why are they more susceptible? I’m not a fisherman so I don’t know… But it doesn’t strike you odd that tens of thousands of piggy perch (I like that name) just died at one time in the ocean and literally nothing else? Are there any historical examples before say the year 2000 of mass fishacide occurring?
Not sure exactly why more susceptible but I’d been a recreational tuna fisherman for many years and have seen it for myself pretty often. It is not an extreme or truly unusual occurrence.
Keep in mind we’ve had a relatively cool Spring down here on the coast, now, this week, the heat index is reaching 109 degrees with very high humidity. Sudden change in water temp & Gulf Stream MIGHT BE a reasonable guess and it has nothing to do with what is being touted as Climate Change.
Good questions, entertaining video there of that confrontation, “Shame on you for not answering my questions!” lol he said to the deputy secretary.
No idea how accurate any climate models are, there are so many factors that go into that it is hubris that anyone thinks they can predict the weather or climate even a day in advance unless they think of themself as being a god.
Most important in that is if the world is considered to be an open or closed system, things would be a lot different if we lived inside a glass jar.
Sounds reasonable, I’m glad you commented
If you really want to find out details, Texas A&M Galveston might have the info.

NOT climate change
