What is the “real world” anymore??? From birth we have been living within an elaborate set of lies, not even knowing who is actually running this weird planet, if it IS a planet?! 
Hard to say since as you point out if we have been manipulated since birth with fictions. The only way to test is to develop and/or critical analysis and thinking, share and compare in small groups, help each to challenge perception, and develop personal techniques and experiience repositories for onward use. This would need to be designed in each’s own bespoke way…Everyone’s experiences of the fictions are unique.These are the bars of the cage and each cage has its own characteristics and lock. There needs to be a sustaining framework that sits in place to strengthen and reinforce an individual’s discernment and survival choices until a critical mass develops which can organise to oppose and change the systems and subsystems creating and maintaining the matrix of lies and controls. For example the educational system and for example the curriculum development subsystem and teacher training subsystem.
