The ordo theologiae is occupying my mind. The western order of asking questions compared to the east. Explains so much, so many implications. West — essence, attributes, persons. East — persons, energies, essence.
The West starts the order of questions with the grand abstraction. This has so many implications, can’t sleep thinking about it. This spills into secular life in so many ways. Explains why most of the ism’s, came from the west and not the east. People start their reasoning with essence and come down like Moses on mount Sinai with all kinds of nonsense. This reminds me of Francis Fukuyama. He still thinks is the “end of history” Russia is about to collapse and people are going to rebel against Putin. The man is hanging on to the abstraction, the concept, the essence. I call it “The Concept, The Ism, and The Great Blob in the Sky.”
These intellectuals should start with persons. Start with the particulars for better analysis. Maybe we would get better political candidates, better policies, better understanding of things.
In Dr. Farrell books, the way they are written, he goes through different topics that don’t seem to be related to each other. Sometimes I ask myself “Where Dr. Farrel is taking me ?” He is applying the order of theology, the particulars, then what are they doing? “energies”, finally it reaches the theme “essence”.
My point is, people should pay more attention to this detail, is huge with implications, and key to understand our western culture.
