The Deadly 1980 USA Heatwave - Nature's Silent Killer

Had a wind event here this afternoon in much of Spring/Houston area. Power off for several hours; just came back on. Trees are in such bad shape from lack of water and previous derecho in June that branches finally broke and took out power lines (again).

With this event and high hurricane season upon us, am of the opinion that freezers are all but worthless, except for bags of ice when can be used later. I need to make some major changes.

Meanwhile, I remember the 1980 event. It was much hotter but I was much younger and could handle it better.

You don’t have to start big…Just a lot of small ones will do the trick.

My sister says it’s been around 110 degrees for weeks now and no rain for over a month, she’s in Winchester County Trails just NW of Houston. I hope you all get some rain soon.

She uses her granddaughter’s outside AC that they use for the cows. I thought she was jagging me when she said she’s using an outside AC for her back porch.

I know just where your sisters area is. Yes, I can believe it. Many livestock care personnel use fans and A/C’s.

Yeah, when she told me she’s using one of the cow’s outside AC I was like uh? I thought she was joking but she says they use them a lot for the outside animals. I never knew.
